March 2018

Hello, Month of March!

Noted with importance that today, March 8th, is International Women’s Day, which is celebrated every year. It commemorates the movement for women’s rights. We celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. It is significant for many reasons, as a civil awareness day, women and girls day, anti-sexism day, and anti-discrimination day.

So to the powerful significant women in our lives, past and present, we salute you!

“Here’s to strong women: May we know them.
May we be them. May we raise them.”

Last weekend was a busy and enjoyable one for The Colour Closet team as we had two events to attend. One was planned a couple of months earlier and the second was an invitation that we saw as too good an opportunity to miss. So the team split up and went separate ways in order to attend both.

The invitation we received was from a group called GTC (Great Trentham Collaboration). They bring together several photographers, makeup artists, models and fashion labels for a two-day collaboration in all things related to style, fashion, artistic creativity and so forth. I guess the organisers liked what they saw with The Colour Closet; potential and our colourful range. They understood our vision and concept so decided to invite us too. We were the ‘new kid on the block’, so to speak.

Time and again we’ve read and heard that for any new venture or business, networking is a valuable resource and asset. Last weekend’s collaboration forum opened a door for us. Many artists who were present had years of experience in their professions. Some of the makeup artists had worked on movie sets, doing what they do best behind the scenes and spinning magic with their craft. It was a joy to watch them in action. There were also talented artists who create props and costumes; again, some of them had previously worked on movie and tv drama sets.

Accepting that opportunity was a wise move, which extends us contacts and possibilities, either immediate or in the future, with offers of help and advice should we ever need it. We at The Colour Closet are continuously learning and are grateful for such opportunities.

Until the next time, be kind to one another.
